≪ What's TRD

TRD develops and produces racecar parts for Toyota vehicle drivers participating in all categories of motorsports.  From beginners to experts, TRD works to further popularize and develop participatory motorsports.  Our efforts here include everything from planning to vehicle and part development and production, the creation of regulations, and PR activities, as part of the full spectrum of support provided for hobbyist-oriented entry-level races such as the GAZOO Racing Netz Cup Vitz Race, GAZOO Racing 86/BRZ Race, and the rally-format TRD Rally Challenge.  We are also proactively involved in efforts related to “making great cars” and “getting to enjoy and love cars”, the themes of the GAZOO Racing initiative started by Toyota in 2006.

The TRD Vitz Challenge started in 2002 as Japan’s first one-make rally car race has grown into one of Japan’s biggest rally events.  To encourage further participation in the event, we changed its name in 2012 to the TRD Rally Challenge.  The event is done in the WRC style that is familiar to novice racers, and is a one-day event that lets participants get maximum fun out of day off.  Entry fees are low for this one-make event for Toyota cars that let drivers test their skills against others.  TRD provides support for this rally-format motorsport event that participants can readily take part in based on a concept that has been well received since its inception.

In addition to support for vehicle development and production for “JAF-certified one-make races with road-taxed vehicles”, races that
make dreams come true for those hoping to one day take part in a race, TRD also manages races and provides technical support.

The GAZOO Racing 86/BRZ Race has been held since 2013. It has garnered considerable attention as a JAF-certified one-make race with road-taxed vehicles based on rear wheel drive sportscars. Each of the seven races since the first year of the event has been a thrilling experience with a total of over 400 vehicles participating.

One of the first one-make races with road-taxed vehicles, the Netz Cup Vitz Race has grown over many years since its start in 2000. Much loved by fans, this pioneering participatory motorsport has a series championship held in five areas throughout the nation.

GAZOO Racing Waku-Doki Driving

Of the four joys of GAZOO Racing, namely having a car, driving it, going out with friends, and talking about cars, TRD focuses especially on the fun of driving cars by conducting planning and management and providing vehicles and technical support. We maintain and manage vehicles for Waku-doki Driving events, where drivers can experience circuit driving and learn more about cars and the true excitement of driving.

GAZOO Racing Making Great Cars

By tempering cars on circuits such as Nürburgring and rally courses throughout the world, TRD stays engaged in providing its car-loving customers with great machines.
TRD provides support for the GAZOO Racing team’s participation in motorsports such as the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race, Super Taikyu Endurance Series, and TRD Rally Challenge.

The T.D.P. (Toyota Young Drivers Program) sees Kazuki Nakajima, Kohei Hirate, Hiroaki Ishiura, Kazuya Oshima, Yuji Kunimoto, and other top drivers in Japan participate in SUPER GT and Super Formula events.  The program develops racecar drivers who compete in top categories in Japan and around the world, and TRD lends support for affiliated driver discovery, development, and enhancement projects.
